Living things / DAY 26 OF 40
The rodent that bends the ageing curve.
Naked mole-rat survival records challenge a familiar mortality pattern.
Here's the strange part.
Naked mole-rats have an unusual relationship with the ageing curve. Researchers examining captive records did not detect the familiar age-related rise in mortality across the well-observed ages. That is genuinely interesting, especially for such a small mammal. But the older-age data were thinner, and a flat pattern in a dataset is not a lifetime subscription to immortality. No detected rise in mortality in the studied records is not proof of no ageing forever. Older-age data were sparse and less precise.
REALITY CHECK · TRUE OR FALSE?
Has this rodent beaten the subscription model?
